Motor Drives and Motion Control

From simple 1D and 2D positioning, to multi-axis systems with blended trajectories; from precise micro-positioning in a benchtop laboratory, to rugged industrial systems.

ICON Technologies’ motion systems can implement any mix of stepper, servo, hydraulic, or piezo-electric control.  We can supply systems that are compatible with most industry standard motors and drives.

High Performance and Ultra-Rugged Vision Systems

For high-performance vision applications that are deployed to harsh industrial environments, ICON Technologies recommends Machine Vision products from National Instruments and Basler. National Instruments modules and controllers support a variety of industry standard camera interfaces:

  • Firewire/IEEE-1349
  • IP cameras

We also have experience integrating FLIR Infrared cameras and Point Grey Ladybug5 spherical cameras.

Ultra High Performance, Multi-Axis Motion Control

For applications that demand the ultimate in high-performance multi-axis motion control, we recommend motor drive modules from National Instruments.  These modules can drive up to eight axes per card, individually configurable for either stepper or servo control.  They support blended motion trajectory control and fully coordinated linear, point-to-point, circular, gearing and vector space control.

We also work with motor drives from a variety of manufacturers, such as Elmo and Beckhoff.

Applications can be implemented in either a Windows PC or a programmable automation controller (PAC). Choose a rugged PAC for reliability in mission critical situations and harsh environments.
