Project Description

The customer requested supply of four Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test systems to support the development off a new Vehicle Control Unit. The first system was designed and deployed within 7 months, with the balance of three systems within the next three months.

The system was integrated from a core of NI COTS hardware and software technologies, backed with custom developed electronic sub-systems including a high-power Load Box, specialist signal conditioning, and power distribution and management. It was supplied as a ready-to-run dual 19″ rack solution with custom sub-rack assemblies, module interconnect cabling, and screen-printed rack panels.

The system included over 700 channels of base analog and digital IO, plus multi-channel support for Flexible data rate CAN, CANOpen, RS-232/485. and ethernet protocols including ModBUS TCP. It has the flexibility to support changes to the IO count and mix, including additional Comms protocols, if needs change.

It supports full fault-insertion functionality for the Majority of the base IO channels, and all Load Box channels.

The ready-to-run user configurable GUI and software automation suite can be extended by the user to include new functionality and automations if needs change in future.
