Project Description
ICON Technologies supplied BHP with a system to remotely monitor the temperature/humidity environment of stored refractory bricks. The system was implemented using the National Instruments Compact FieldPoint PAC platform.
The system logs six channels of humidity and six channels of temperature at a user-configurable rate. It includes backup battery power to provide between 24 and 48 hrs continuous operation in the event of power loss.
The storage facility is approximately 40 kms from the operating plant. The system can be remotely accessed via the GSM network, and auto-dials a prioritized list of operator phones if any temperature or humidity level goes outside a specified range.
